Some people want to have the body of an Adonis, but now too many people want to put in the work. In Stallone’s case, he has put in a lot of work at the gym over the years. If you are interested in learning some of Sylvester Stallone’s workout secrets, you have come to the right place, and we will tell you what it takes to look like Sylvester Stallone.
Sylvester Stallone’s Workout Routine
According to Stallone, the hardest he has ever worked out in his life was when he was filming Rocky III. At that time, he thought it was necessary to do all that work in order to look like he did in the movie, but now, he realizes it wasn’t necessary, but he still thinks it was worth it.
During his workout sessions for Rocky III, Stallone did 20 rounds of sparring with real boxers, two hours of weightlifting, a lot of jump ropes, and two miles of jogging on a daily basis. It shows just how much he was dedicated to his craft, but knowing what we do about working out now, it was definitely too much work.
By the time he was filming Rocky Balboa 20 years later, a wiser Stallone had switched up his workout routine. Instead of working out for hours every day, he cut it back to three days a week. During those three days, he worked different muscle groups, instead of doing them all at once. On Mondays, he would work on his abs, his chest, shoulders and triceps. He would also do some light cardio before and after weight training. On Wednesdays, he would work on his back and biceps, while doing cardio before and after weight training. On Friday, he would do a full body workout, then some cardio before and after weight training.
Stallone was not as ripped as he was when he did Rocky III, but he was still in excellent shape, especially for someone his age.
Hugh Protein Diet
While Stallone’s workouts are legendary, his diet is even crazier. When he was filming the 1981 movie Glory, he would consume 200 calories of pure protein every day, and eat a baked potato every once in a while to keep from fainting. Since then, he has switched to a better diet, and consumes foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and no alcohol while training.
Having a physique like Stallone’s takes a lot of work and determination, but it is very possible as long as you eat right and work out on a regular basis.
