One of the most controversial subjects you can bring up around bodybuilders is protein source.  Some people swear that red meat is the best possible source of protein, others disagree.  Since the argument for eating red meat is pretty self explanatory – protein to make protein, let’s look at the other end of the spectrum.Here’s the argument made by those who say eating plant protein is far superior to eating meat.  I don’t necessarily agree or disagree (I’m a meat eater presently), but the argument is pretty persuasive.  I may have to rethink some of my dietary choices.What is in the meat that you buy from the grocery store?  It’s not just meat from an animal, it’s packed full of estrogen – a feminine hormone.  Hmmmm, already that sounds like something I shouldn’t be eating.  It’s sometimes full of parasites and if you think about it, it’s really the end result of all the things animals have eaten and digested.

That’s really disgusting if you think about it.When you dig into a big juicy steak, have you ever wondered what was making those juices?  Many say that it consists of female menstrual hormones such as melangestrol, progesterone and estradiol.  The end results of ingesting these hormones is wider hips, flabby stomachs and those rounded female shoulders.  In other words, more feminine features.

I personally never considered Arnold Schwarzenegger ”girly” and I’m sure he ate meat (and lots of it), but that was many years ago.

I don’t think any of us are blind to the fact that the farmers are feeding hormones to the cows to make them bigger. Not to mention the antibiotics and other medications they give them to keep them healthy.So what’s the alternative?You can go vegetarian – take a look at the photo above of Luis Freitas, IFBB Mr. Olympia.  He’s a vegetarian and follows a plant based diet.  Plants are an excellent source of protein and obviously can get you the results you’re looking for.The protein powders from the vitamin shops are predominately vegetarian.  Those types include Whey, Albumin, Egg, and Soy.  I’m sure this is no accident.

What’s the Verdict?  Is Red Meat Making You Into a Girl? So basically this article is food for thought.  If you’re seeing some adverse results even though you’re working like a mad man, try cutting back or eliminating red meat from your diet for a month or so and see what happens.  You may be surprised at the results you get!
