These days, a lot of people have started making their own pre and post workout drinks, and you would be surprised to find out that some of them actually taste better than the high priced workout drinks that are sold at grocery stores and nutrition centers.

Banana Walnut Bliss

This is a very refreshing drink to consume before a workout. It is also very beneficial to your workout, because a bananas provide you with antioxidants and potassium, while walnuts provide you with protein.
Ingredients: 2 cups of milk, 1 banana, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a handful of walnuts.

Blend all the ingredients together until it becomes liquid.

Oat Cocoa Smoothie

If you are trying to build muscle, you know that it is important to consume a lot of protein before and after your workout. This drink provides you with a good source of protein before you start your workout, and tastes a whole lot better than any protein shake sold in stores.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of low fat yoghurt, ¼ cup of instant oats, 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed, 1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, a dash of cinnamon, and one frozen banana.
Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend on low for 30 seconds, then on high for about a minute.

C Blast Smoothie

This is a smoothie for those that need a good source of vitamin C. It is filled with mostly fruits, so you will get a lot of nutrients like iron, as well as antioxidants to help you stay healthy.

Ingredients: 1 pink grapefruit that is peeled and seeded, 1/2 a cup of crushed pineapple (fresh or canned), 1/2 a cup of frozen strawberries (you can use fresh strawberries if you don’t have any frozen), crushed ice (if using fresh strawberries), 3/4 a cup of Greek yoghurt.

Blend all the ingredients together and it is ready to drink.

Ingredients: Two ripe pears, chopped, 1 teaspoon of ginger root, 1 cup of milk, a handful of ice.

Blend all the ingredients together and sprinkle some cinnamon on it after pouring it into your cup.

Spinach-Blueberry Smoothie

You are probably thinking that that is the worst combination you have probably heard of, but remember that you can’t judge a book by its cover. In this case, don’t judge the drink by its ingredients. This is actually a very tasty drink, and once you try it, you will agree with me.

Ingredients: 1/2 a cup of low fat vanilla, 2 cups of water, 1 banana, 1 cup of blueberries, 2 cups of fresh spinach, 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup.

Pour all the ingredients in a blender, and blend till it’s smooth. Once you finish blending it, pour it into a cup and enjoy your beverage.
